Cuenca, my new city

I spent another afternoon in the sun for a few hours after going to the Office of Foreigners. They said I have all the paperwork except insurance that covers serious injury. My insurance through the program only covers accidents and nothing like, oh you know, death. So Sara said to wait until the orientation next week to see if they talk about the insurance aspect. Other than that I have all my paperwork ready to go...I have a Spanish bank account, I have a visa and I am registered as a citizen of Cuenca. All I need to have is the visa that extends my stay past December.

Since it was so nice out I took a break from running and walked the route that I ran all last week to take pictures of Cuenca. When I run/walk this route it still doesn't feel real to me. It still feels like a dream, that this can't really be where I'm living for a year. I feel so lucky and so blessed to be able to walk ten minutes and see the scenery. Never before have I seen mountains, rocks and grass look so extraordinary. I can't take my eyes off the houses and buildings that seem to hang suspended off the mountains. The sidewalks made of pebbles and stones beneath my feet are uneven as I walk, the walls are made of stone and concrete, each door is different, flowers hang off balconies, clothes dry on wires. I could walk
around these streets for hours.
Heading out.

Beautiful isn't a strong enough word...what do you think?

besos de cuenca,
